Also, at what age can you tell if a Mississippi map turtle is a male of female? Bombshell is a little over a year now.

Out of curiosity, who told you that Bombshell is Mississippi Map? From what I can see of his eyes, beak, and head markings, he's actually an Ouachita Map. The care for both species is very similar.
