General Care Discussion :: Housing Adult Turtles together

Hi there:

We have a male RES juvi/young adult, and a female RES young adult. They both live separately at the moment.

We've been to a few pet stores where the males and females have been put together. What kind of scenario am I looking at if we do this? Are they likely to mate or fight?

They will probably do both. As for the way pet stores keep them, they are usually under a lot of stress and defensive. In a normal tank, the male will eventually go after the female.
