General Care Discussion :: Chewing on floating perch

My turtle, Semira, is chewing her floating perch. Has anyone had this issue with their RES? Do you have any suggestions?
We have removed the perch from her tank. She does have rocks in her tank so she can bask and might be adding
more so she has more room! Thank you for your help.

You could try feeding your turtle a cuttlebone to curb her biting/chewing tendencies. Take note that she may eat the rocks that can fit in her mouth and it may be dangerous to the turtle.

I think most people that have these docks have had this problem at one time or another. Some turtles seem to love that rubbery material it is made of out, other just like to chew on stuff.

As dumbork mentions cuttle bones may help, you can also try adding feeder fish for the turtle to chase.

Some turtle just stop spontaneously, other needed to have the dock replaced with something else.
