why would they try and mate? I mean the have had their tales wrapped around each other.

Sometimes males will try to mount each other to show dominance, like other animals. My female dogs sometimes mount one another to try to show dominance, my cats have done it - it's fairly common.

Even female turtles will mount to show dominace. Its exacly like adbritta said.

wow!!!!! that explains my 2 females doing the mounting thing....!
and the one tha'ts usually on top is sniffing the other one near her face a lot recently, does it mean anything?

Yea, those claws are WAY longer than my female's claws.

How big were they when you got them from Petco?
