Not using legs?
Posted: Thu Jun 07, 2007 4:36 pmI have a question about my turtle, Philbert. He is about an inch long and lives with another turtle the same size as him.
Their tank is ten gallons with 2-3 inches of water at the bottom of the tank, a turtle dock, an underwater heater (hovers around 80) and a filter.
The other day I noticed that he wasn't using his right front leg. He was keeping it tucked in when i was holding him. I put him back in the tank and for the last few days it has been on/off between his front two legs. For example, the other day he went to rub his face and he couldn't, but then I saw him do it yesterday just fine. When I took him out today he kind of uses them. Yesterday I noticed he wasn't using his back left as much either.
He doesn't eat very much...I've tried EVERYTHING and the only thing he'll eat is tuna. I've tried 3 different kinds of pellets, mealworms, crickets, plants (he might have eaten this, it's hard to tell). I thought it might be the start of a calcium deficieny but his shell is still perfectly hard. He spends a good amount of time basking, probably 9-10 hours a day, maybe more.
The other turtle in the tank is doing just fine - eat pellets regularly and is very active.
What could possibly be wrong with Philbert??
