My 4 year old female RES, Eva has been very lethargic since Sunday morning. We have gotten a few kicks and head movements from her, but at times, her inactive state almost makes it seem like she has passed away. She has lived in a 55 galon tank with three other turles for 4 months now. They all get along well, eat the same food. The other 3 seem perfectly healthy. She has NO external symptoms. I am worried about bacteria (but wouldnt the others be sick) or pneumonia?? Has anyone experianced this before? We've moved her to her own quiet tank, kept her warm, she has about 1/2 an inch of water in there to keep her hydrated. When a turtle DOES pass away, do they become stiff (as mamals do after a few hours). Rigor has not set in at all, her limbs are plyable...but she has no reaction to us touching and manipulating them. HELP!

I don't know what to tell you. Good thing that you separated her. I'd get her to a vet asap.

Lethargy can be a symptom of RI, bacterial infection or septicemia. It is a very serious condition and you need to get her to a vet. right away.

Yes, they do stiffen if they've passed away, but your said yours is responding to your touch(?). I'd vote for the vet as well.
