I have just put my res in a 125 gallon tank (yes 125 gallon). Ihave been using the turtle shaped calcium additive that I just read I shouldnt be using. Could these have caused a lot of bubbles to form on the top of the water?

I've never used them, but it could have. They're not harmful, they're just not necessary.

I've never heard of them causing bubbles. Do you know the brand/product name?

If you just filled the tank with water, then some of the oxygen already in the water is probably starting to escape which is where the bubbles may be coming from (kinda like when you open a bottle of pop and all the air fizzes out of the liquid). Filling a tank that large creates a lot of turbulence & traps air in the water. It should clear up in a few days.
