Hi -
My RES has not been eating actively (he used to) in the last couple of days, I realize his throat has developed something like fugus.
Would appreciate if you can let me know what is the best treatment for this symptom?

I have the "Liquid Fugus Cure" from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals and am wondering if this can be used for the treatment?

Thank you very much for your help!!

Regards,
Dennis

Do you mean on the outside, on his neck, or in his throat? I'm not familiar with that product. It would help if you could post a pic. Other than not eating, are there any other symptoms? What does this 'fungus' look like?

What does this fungus look like? What are the temps of the water and basking area?

is the fungus like a white cottony beard or is it like shedding b caz he is growing?theres a water plant here and little sliders get trapped in the stagnat water at the dammed up end when caught out of there they all have a white fungus, much like the cotton fungus that mollies are so popular for getting, I have used the the fungus gaurd for cotton fungus on fish on the turts and it has worked well. a few drops in a bowl of water just deep enuff for the turt to swim in. also clean his tank etc. well before u return him to the water. I cant remeber how many days in a row I treated it seems like 3-7 was pretty fast?

Hi -

This is like white cottony beard (I took a photo but unfortunately don't know how to attach it in the message). If you don't mind I can email the photo to you.

Do you just put him in a small bowl with the medication for 2 - 3 days in a row without putting him back to the tank during this timeframe?

Thanks a lot!

here is a thread on how to post pictures. Perhaps someone could make a "sticky" in the gallery so people don't have to go searching for the "directions" .. just a suggestion :D

The link doesn't work, it says to sign in, you either need to make the album "Public" or use www.photobucket.com which is what I use.

POSTING A PICTURE:
You can put a picture here like this:

1. You need to have your pictures in an on-line album like www.photobucket.com , which I use.
2. Under your picture there are three entries, the picture's url, the url for use on message boards with "IMG" in caps, and one for "Blogs"
Image

3. Copy the plain "Url" (the first url in the picture)

4. On the message board you need to click on the "Img" button just above the square where you put your message
Image

5. Paste the url from the picture and then click on the "Img" button again, when you click on the button the first time, the button will look like this "Img*", that is so you remember to click on it again to complete the picture posting.

I hope that helps. :D

Thanks - it's working now (I learn something useful today).

If you look closely around the neck area you will notice the fugus like problem I am referring to.

Thanks again

Hi - Just an update:

I am putting him in a small bowl with just enough water for him to swim, and adding two to three drops of the fungus cure. I am doing this twice a day, and two hours each. He shows some improvement and is more active now. I will continue to do this and see how it goes....
Thanks everyone for the information.

Do you see that when he's out of the water? If not, it could be shedding (they do shed some skin as they grow). In normal shedding, the skin comes off in wispy pieces, but is visible mostly when the turtle is in the water. Is there anything like it on the legs or tail?
