My turtle has some wierd discoloration on his neck. I think it might be an infection of some sort. The discolered part it raised a bit. She dosent like being out of the water as much as the other one. The other does not have any problems at all. I don't know if that will help at all. I will add a pic if some one will tell me how. Thank you for the help

well they aren't "bumps," just slightly raised jelly looking like skin. They are on her neck. She has to strech it out though to be able to see it all the way. It is a small area that seems to be affected. Also about a week ago I noticed that on her leg there was a spot that looked similar but more like it was rotting. I was gone for a week and now when I look at it it looks as though it is healing.

Looks like ear abcesses. Here's a link for info/treatment. Click and scroll down. http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/medeyes.htm He'll need a vet btw.

Hard to tell. When my RES positions his head a certain way, two areas stand out the way they do in the picture of yours, and I know they're not abcesses.

If you gently swab that brown area, does anything come off? You might try swabbing a weak solution of betadine on the area and letting it dry and seeing if that doesn't help. Since you said that he has something similar on his leg but it looks like it's rotting, though, I'd take him to a reptile vet, even though you did say it seemed to be healing.

How often do you change the water?

I really don't believe it is an ear abcesses, from the picstures I say on taht page. Are looking at the brownish colered skin above the red stripe. This is what I am worried about. I will try to find a vet in my area, but any assistance is helpful

no I don't think so. The lighting is that way in the pic just because I out it close to get a good shot. Temp is ok in the basking are and the light is 't touch it. Plus it dosen't bask nearly as often as the other one does.

my big female RES has a darker discoloration on her neck and it looks like a sticky purple-ish substance. but your picture looks like her shell behind her neck is also discolorated. did this happen suddenly? does the skin look like it's peeling?

I think it is just from when the turtle retracts its neck, from the rubbing against the shell's edge :? , at least that is what it looks like to me. :)

Stray, when she retracks her neck the skin folds over that part before it would have time to touch the shell. So I don't think that is it.
