i have a res, notica bump on the back of her neck, she cant stick her head out all the way , it also looks like her whole neck part is swollen.she's had this sincei got her 2 monthago

any one know what it could be?

i got a few other q's. they are both shedding alot, and this hibernatin thing , how should the water temp been minesbetween 78-80 is that okand the tank is a 20 gallon they are still babies size of a half dollar if that. the water level is about 5 inches .

Can you post a pic? The lump sounds like it could be an abcess. If it is, it will need to be lanced by a herp vet to allow the pus to drain, and your turtle will likely need antibiotics. You need to have the turtle checked out. An abcess won't go away by itself (your turtle has already had it for two months), is painful, and if left untreated will eventually cause your turtle to not eat and become sicker; it can eventually be fatal. Take your turtle to a herp vet.

When was the last time your turtle ate? just fed em now i feed em about 3 times a day

Looks more like a sore than an abcess. You should have him checked by a vet tho. He'll likely need some sort of treatment.

Now let me comment on your setup. You need to know the basking and water temps. It's so important because RES are cold blooded and need to be able to warm up when they need to. You also need to get a uvb bulb and make sure there is nothing between that bulb and your tank (such as plastic or glass as they will block uvb rays).

Feed once a day, the amount the size of his head. Overfeeding can lead to loads of problems.

Read through the basic care section and make notes of what you'll need to purchase in order to give him the proper care.

Phone around to see if there is a reptile vet in your area, or check the notes on the forum here. There is a sticky called "How to locate a vet in your area" or something like that.

Lastly, take a deep breath and relax. This is a message board, so you won't always get a reply in minutes or less. Some members may read your post but not know how to help you so they'd rather say nothing than give improper advice (kudos to them).

ok i do have a uvb. light no basken light tho. they always look hungry so once a day is good thanks

Looks like an abscess....I would get him to a vet as soon as you can, as they can go systemic and cause blood poisoning. My turtle got a sore on his neck from his scutes, and we put panolog ointment on it for a few days (after we went to the vet) and it cleared up without no problems.

i plan on it , once i get the money to bring her.

They also will not go away themselves and as Heather wrote, it can develop into something much worse. Its also irritating and can be painful for your turtle. I would also keep them separate until the situation is over.

they r getting along now i added 3-5 inches of water havent seen him bulling her as much only once i saw'll him do it .

I know this is tottaly off topic. but people are telling me to take out my rocks right ? and I have the same ones as in that picture up there! ^^ :O Haha So is it okay to just leave them?

No take them out. Your turtle can eat them and become impacted... and possibly die if she cannot pass them. I took my rocks out because I thought my turtle had eaten one (thankfully didn't) and I will never put rocks that small in again! Take those rocks out ASAP. Trust me, I was scared for a week, documenting the times my turtle pooped after I thought I saw her eat a rock. I was a nervous wreck. Get rocks that she definetly cannot eat, like river rocks. I thought rocks looked so pretty, but it is NOT worth your turtle being in pain as they are stuck or passing through her intestines or the possibility of death.
