i talked to her today and she was crying, she recently found out that her turtle had a fungus infection, so shes now treating her turtle with some medication for fungus..but she says that her turtles belly is skin soft and his shell is too. one of his eye's is closed shut( shes been giving him zoo med drops) but what is scary is that she told me, one of his legs were literally missing!...

she doesnt know what to do , and her mom refuses to take a 10 dollar turtle to the vet..should she give it to a veteranarian or what?..would they take in a severly sick turtle in?

I'm not sure what you mean by "take in a severely sick turtle"

Any vet will euthanize an animal that is obviously suffering or beyond treatment options, and given that this turtle is missing a leg and the mother is unwilling to pay for what would be an expensive treatment, if one is even possible, I would say this turtle fits that category.
In which case your girlfriend can bring the turtle to the vet to be humanely put out of its suffering. In my opinion that's the best thing she can do for it besides treatment. Otherwise it sounds like this turtle will die a painful death.
Most vets do charge a fee for euthanizing ( my vets is around $50). If your girlfriend and her mother can't afford or aren't willing to pay that they can surrender the animal to the vet (like if you brought in a cat or dog you found hit by a car) and the vet will take the animal into it's care. However, she won't be able to get the turtle back for a burial or anything sentimental like that.

I hope for the turtle's sake she(and her mom) does decide to take it to the vets, and consider the financial responsibilites of owning a pet next time, good luck with the poor guy.
