Did he get stuck under water? Sounds like drowning? There was an old post that told what to do... try the search bar for drowning or something. I can't remember enough to tell you what to do for him except NOT to turn him over onto his back.

Call a vet.

If it was a drowning incident then he's going to need a vet to get the water out of his lungs and treat him for any illness he gets because of it.

For now you can bump the water temp up to 80 for an older turt, 82 for a hatchling and basking temp should be 10 degrees higher.

Do you have any idea what caused it? Was it drowning? Does he have any mucous from the mouth or nose?

You really should get him to a vet, even a regular vet is better than nothing.

And he calls himself a vet??? Nice.

Keep him warm and offer him some food tomorrow.

Are you sure this was a drowning? There's info on treating a drown turtle here: http://www.turtlecare.net/drown.htm

Watch for signs of respiratory distress, which he may develop if he has fluid in his lungs. Keep him warm (water about 80-82F, basking area ten degrees higher) and keep his water shallower (about the depth of the length of his shell) so he doesn't have to expend a lot of energy swimming. Let us know how he's doing.

Bob made it through the night it took about 30-45 minutes to recover him but my daughter and I did. He has made it through the night and has begun to eat. I believe this was a near drowning and that he wedged himself between the basking area and the side of the tank. I was able to remove a bit of water from his lungs.

I'm glad to hear that Bob is doing better. Have you fixed the places where he can wedge himself into? Turts get themselves into trouble all the time... it's like "child-proofing" the house...

Flash...I lost him yesterday. I was hoping he'd hang in til the vet appt.. I had him and the girl (haven't named her yet) for about a week. She has RI. Just yesterday morning he was swimming and so I thought he'll be just fine. Poor lil thing. I feel so bad for the girl and doing my best to provide for her.
