Not sure what the problem is, but it doesn't sound good. A herp vet sounds like a must. There are a list of vets in the stickys at the top of this section.

The wheezing sounds like respritory infection. The loss of appetite could be related to that, or any illness that the turt is suffering from.

Is there anything that your turt could have swallowed that would have caused the throat or insides to bleed?

the only 1 is on the other side of town, and since i am lacking a driver's license, it will be somewhat impossible to travel carrying a turtle in the switching of the weather..

could someone take you? there are more posts here that cover one or two of those symptoms but not bleeding,that sounds very bad!

The spitting up blood with the lethargy sounds like something could be caught inside the turtle. Really try to take the turtle to a herp vet.

So she (the turtle) visited the vet and they said that she could drown if she's in water, so for 2 weeks i have to give her shots and more or less force a fluid down her throat.
as a precaution, i brought my other turtle, they said that he is fine although he is a pain in the a** and we should separate both the turtles.

the vet said to use as little water as possible, this is something i dont understand, how can the turtle sleep without having any form of fluid..

they said to wet a piece of tissue and put it on the floor of the tank using a heater. not even to fill the tank to a minimum level.


anyways, they said that the turtles look healthy as in they are growing fine.
they also recommended a diet for the female.

it costed 100$ for the appointment, medecine + needles +advice.

I'm sorry for your loss.

As a precaution, you'll want to give the tank a complete cleaning for the sake of the other turtle. That means cleaning the filter too. Good luck with the other one and keep us posted!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. What did the vet say she had?

they said at about this age, the turtle can become sick easier than if it were younger.
apparently i was told it was pneumonia, except they said the turtle should be fine if properly treated... she was taken care as the doctor said. although she didnt live which was dissapointing because they never said anything about her becoming so sick that she would die she same day the doctor treated her..

the other turtle is actually older..
i've had the male for 15 yrs..
the 1 that passed away, i had her for 12 years..

Sorry to hear this. It's possible the vet wasn't prepared to treat this kind of illness. How long did she have symptoms? Do you know how she might have caught a RI and would the other turtle be at risk?
