Help! I have had my RES for 4 months and he has been perfectly healthy till now. In the last 5 days my RES has stopped eating and has been spending all of the day and night, under the heat lamp, sitting on the rock in my tank with his eyes closed and his head laying down on the rock. Another thing is that my RES hasnt grown since we got him, could this contribute to his illness? What is wrong with my turtle? Is there any way I can help him?

If there are no changes to the previous setup and he has suddenly become lethargic, then I would take him to a see a vet ASAP....

Hi, my name is Mike. I saw this post and immediatly registered

Does the turtle open its mouth a lot? When i first got my RES's, They were fine for a while and then one contracted Pnemonia (sry for spelling lol) My turtle stayed out of the water under the heat lamp and put her head down. This was because she was scared to go in the water because when i put her in it she swam oddly. I got her to the vet and i got this medicin that i had to give her in a dropper. your post sounds just like what happened to my turtle and it is VERY seriouse once it gets to the stage your describing (head resting on the bottom) It is very easy to treat but is very very very dangerous!!!
