Hello so my turtles have started getting this weird white stuff on their shell, its minor but its becoming a concern. What exactly is this? What can I do to cure it?

Yup... treat it as soon as you can before it spreads.

The best thing is silver sulfadiazine, which requires a prescription. You also need to make sure that your turtle has easy access to the basking area and that they are using it several hours a day.

Is there any non-prescriptive alternative to this? And how exactly would I apply it?

There's nothing that works faster than silver sulfadiazine, if it works on this type of strain. Applying is easy... dry dock, apply a very small amount, wipe up after dry dock, return to tank.
