I posted earlier about my slider having green around his shell and we think it was algea. I got him a new tank and before putting him into the tank I went over the spot softly with a toothbrush and noticed it felt bumpy. Almost like there is a crack or part of the shell is lifting off. Not sure what you can see from these pictures. Any ideas would help. Thanks.

Looks to my untrained eye like algae that has stained the shell or gotten into the spaces of the shell. I used baking soda and warm water with a soft toothbrush to gently scrub the algae. Took about three scrubs over a week or so to get it off. That plus clean water did the trick and it hasn't returned.

The shell generally looks pretty good. There are a couple of spots that need to be looked over… if possible, do a gentle cleaning and post pics of the shell when its dry. We usually recommend diluted Hibclens or Betadine, though baking soda might be suitable since there is not much to clean.

Did any part of the shell/scute come off? The texture of the top vertebral scute looks a little weird/rough.
