I was hoping someone might know what this discolored area is on my slider. Thanks.

Any chance you have pics, or at least a description of what you're seeing.
Your question has a dearth of detail.

I tried attaching the photo but it says the size is too big. Any ideas how to get the picture in? There is a brighter green section on the center of his shell and its growing.

You can create an account on an image hosting site, like photobucket, flicker, imageshack and just post a link to the uploaded photo. Then you don't have to worry about image resizing

Looks like it might just be aglea growing on the shell, take a soft tooth brush and scrub the area to get clean. Lets see if anything else happening underneath that algea.

Really good pic this time. Looks like algae has grown in between the old layer of scutes and the new layer of scutes. Its nothing to worry about. Pretty much the turtle just has to shed the scutes to get rid of that coloring. Id go out get hikari wheat germ pellets to help the shedding process.

Thank you so much for the help. I'm a first time turtle owner and a bit of a worryer. He was a gift and I feel the take and pump were too small. Looking at getting a better setup, but things are costly.
