Hi, I recently caught 2 of my REDS biting at one of my other turtles shell (there are 4 in the tank) I removed the one they were biting at seeing his shell was getting raw he has no other bites (legs, neck) but I do have plans to keep him seperate because during mating times him and the other male had biting/fighting issues but how can I help his shell heal I applied a lil first aide ointment and removed him from water leaving him bask instead... Is this okay? Should I be doing something else? I would hate for him to be in pain or for it to become infected please help!

Here's what it looks like today...

That looks like fungus or some other problem. Are those spots on the shell soft or sensitive?

Don't think it's fungus, he's had no other problems these sore areas are a result of 2 of my other turts biting his shell off had I not seen it with my own eyes I would had suggested fungus as well.

I can't really tell from the pics, but is it the top layer of scute bitten through? Males will need to kept separate at all times.

Yes they bit off the top layer. The males have been together for over 25 years I've had them for almost 2 years. But I guess the dynamics change a lil adding females to the mix. I've had my girls about 6-7 years. Do you think I should add one of the females with him so it's 2 to a tank. M/f. I don't want him to get lonely being wit another for over 25 years to seperation... That's kinda why I didn't take him out during mating season, after awhile they seemed to get over the fighting and got along again... I'm learning. And should I be doing more than just applying first aide ointment to his shell?

Males should be kept away from females too. They won't get lonely, so don't consider that in your decisions.

I would take him to a vet... I don't usually see an orange color to shell wounds, so it would be a good idea to have an experienced set of eyes check him out.

Looking into getting him to the vet today! As for seperting them... So your saying; Just seperate both males into two differant tanks and leave both my females together? or will all 4 need to be seperated into tanks alone??

Yay no infection! the vet says to keep applying 1st aide ointment. Unless it worsens or begins to smell it should heal up fine! Orange/ reddish tint was from carrots he had! LOL

The females can stay together as long as they are getting along. Each male will have to have their very own habitat. Good news on no infection!
