It seems the turtles red areas are not as red. We did just move them into a bigger and better home. They are eating, swimming and playing fine

the redness comes out more prominantly in RES that eat a very balanced diet, which contain a lot of nutrients. at least that's what I've read..

You might actually have an orang eared slider!
Res come in diferent colors(red,yellow,orange). The colors are just a variety of the redearslider, thuse all of the care and housing ect. is the same.

They're "ears" don't have to be red. Some don't really have any coloring at all. A diet high in beta carotene (found in foods like carrots, squash, pumpkin, etc.) has been suggested by some as contributing to more vibrant coloring. But a turtle that starts out with orange ears is unlikely to wind up with red ears by eating increased amounts of beta carotene--just a deeper shade of orange (and the coloring tends to fade with all sliders as they age).
