I woke up this morning to see blood splattered on the cement outside of Mr.T's pond. My ultra healthy Mr.T climbed out of his pond/enclosure and fell 3 feet onto the cement and did a face plant. He's still very active, shell seems fine he just messed his face up pretty good. It's possible that he broke his jaw, the damage seems to be mostly inside his mouth, I can see lots of red blood/flesh in the corner of mouth where it gaps open slightly.
My questions are what should I do to properly care for him? Should I dry dock him to help clot off bleeding? I doubt there is any antiseptic that is safe to use inside his mouth. I hate our local exotic vet, they killed my marginated tortoise baby and just seem to be really bad every time I need to bring anyone in. I don't want to bring him in, I feel like its more harm than good and it's always about $600 every time I step foot in there. He's in my son's bathtub right now where he can be contained and I can keep a close eye on him.

Dry docking would be a good start and try some brief soaks in very clean water.

I would take him to a different vet... check for recommendations with the people from California Turtle & Tortoise Club (CTTC) and check this thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=30534

Looks like the bleeding has stopped and he calmed down a bit. I'm going to keep in in the tub for a while (maybe a few weeks depending on the damage) and keep him in ultra clean water. My husband is going to Home Depot and making his pond area escape proof (hopefully!). I'm also going to wait until tomorrow to feed him and give him tiny pieces of shredded greens and see how his jaw works. If the damage seems to be more than just superficial I'll bring him into a new vet asap. Looks like we wont be leaving for vacation tomorrow after all :S
