Something is wrong.

I came home from work today to my new baby RES floating in the water. His tail was beneath the dock but the rest of him was not. The way that he was floating scared me so I picked him up and put him on top of the dock.

He has been sitting there for an hour now; no movement, no signs of life. The only thing that I have noticed is that his right eye seems to have closed more than it was before and his head has gone further into his shell.

When I found him, both of his eyes were only half open and his head was half in his shell. Now, one eye is half open and the other one is mostly shut. His eyes are not swollen or puffy. He is not reacting to being picked up, being splashed or being approached by his brother/tank mate.

I just don't know what to do.

Is it possible he was drowning? I'd take him out and put him someplace dry and warm.

I guess it could be possible. He is so small, I am not able to really try the method explained in an article I read about drowning. I put him in a small tupperware container, on top of a small UTH. He hasn't moved at all and nothing has really changed.

I appreciate your help! Sheldon didn't make it. We buried him in the backyard with our beloved cat that passed away last summer. :-(

awww.... this is one of my fears of coming home to find our baby Skimmer dead... It would devastate my son and I.

I know to most people, they are "just a turtle", but as we all know here, they are much more than that to us.

Thank you for everything! We only had him for two or three days but he was not "just a turtle", nor is my lizard "just a lizard" or my dog "just a dog", etc. They are family from the moment we decide to bring them home to become a part of our family. I am upgrading Leonard, Sheldon's brother, to a larger tank this weekend. I sure wish he was there to share it with him. It's great to know there's people here who care.
