My turtles she red last night but this morning it dos not look as bad. I know its is a sine of septicemia. Me other turtle had it at the start of last summer.

I have not been the most attentive over the last month. Do to my work saying they might let me go at the end of this month.
We also had some cold days and i packed up the out side feeding tank I use during the summer. I thought it was getting around that time were i could feed them less but then we had one last heat wave. I ran out of their normal food and tied to give them what i could but looking back it may not have been enough. I gave them some strips of turkey lunch meat. I don't give that to them all the time just as a last resort.

I've been trying to be better at clueing the wanter in the tank.( Every other week. ) But like i said this month has not been the best and i think i may have when a little longer for my turtle. its also tuff B/c this turtle Shelly. Will rip the charcoal filters off the wall and pull out the insides. I'm really not sure way. she had done this for as long as I have had her.
The water look clan to my eyes and i didn't smell anything. yet i how there can be unseen thing. i'm trying to think but she may have been thin the water for 3 weeks but i'm not sure.

It also started to get cold at night and i keep both turtles by a open window. I open it dunning the day to give them light and make the room less stuffy. yet at night I for get to close it or it may sell fell all right to me and only get cold in the morning.

One other thing is i'n not sure when she has gone poop. I have her in some warm water now trying to get her to go, Could the redness also come about if she is has been stopped up for to long ?

she still move around and get out on her rock and rips the filter off the wall. but she seems a little lethargic when it comes time getting the gold fish I put in there for her.
She is also a cubby turtles so I don't know if she is just getting tiered.

i'm not wanting to seem hurtles and i was ready to call the vet to day but after seeing her shel this morning I for some advice before I call. With my job on shaky grounds I taking her to the vet is a big deal.

Hope you hear from any one soon.

I'm sorry your turtle is sick. If you see red that looks streaky it probably is septicemia. That can only be treated by a vet. If you can not afford a vet maybe you can look into a wild life rehabilitator. You would have to give up your rights as the turtles owner but you would be giving her a chance at life. In the mean time it sounds like the care she is receiving is not proper. Sometimes we just don't know any better. Here is a link to basic care http://www.redearslider.com/index_basic_care.html
If possible please upload a picture. We can help you better then.
