New Baby Turtle in China, difficulty enticing to eat

Hi there,

I've recently moved to China and acquired a small red-eared turtle as my new companion. It's only about 1 inch and I've had it set up in its environment for 2 days now. I've been trying to entice it to eat - I've tried turtle pellets, mosquito larvae, shrimp, bok choy and boiled eggs but it doesn't seem to want to eat. I'm getting really worried as it's becoming very inactive. I don't want to lose my little green friend.

Visiting a vet is somewhat a difficulty because of the language barrier so I was wondering if there was any advice from first hand experiences as to what I should do. Or maybe someone else that lives in China (Beijing to be exact) that might know of somewhere I can take my little fella to get checked up on.

Thanks!

Try some live prey... minnows and guppies that can squirm (with you holding it by the tail) in front of it's face.

What kind of environment do you have it set up in?

Any pictures of the environment? Sometimes little turtles just don't make it.

Warm water, basking area, room to swim?

Try soaking turtle pellets in tunawater. They love smelly things!
