Squirt is a male RES with shell length approximately 4 inches~

We just got back from vacation, and Squirt is eating normally. However, as he was basking I saw a 'discolored speck' on his shell, I don't know how to describe it; it was a small thing on the lower part of his center scute. I'm very worried because I haven't given him cuttlebone in awhile and i know MBD is really bad..... and at the same time it could be shell fungus, as the basking platform isn't big enough (we got a new one but it doesnt fit in the tank and we can't afford a new one yet)...Or is it bone exposure? I AM SUCH A BAD PARENT!!

Here are some pictures; I apologize for terrible lighting and will try to get some better shots tomorrow. It may appear that Squirt's shell is normal here but I am sure that this whitish gray bump thing isn't normal....um, it looks like a transparent fluid dripped onto the shell and dried if you know what I mean. THe toothbrush thing didn't help...

How would you diagnose the shell, and what can I do to make it normal again?
I appreciate any input you can give me. I am extremely paranoid for the wellbeing of my turt.

I can't really tell much from the pictures. If it has a golden appearance, it could just be an air pocket - indicating that it's going to shed soon.

If it's shedding, then it's normal and you can just leave it be. If it's something else, make an accurate ID so it can be treated.
