Urgent Care :: swollen front and back legs!!! plz help!!! :(

my bf has 2 RES turtles that he has had for about 8yrs. he has always taken extremely good care of them. recently one of the turtles front and back legs got very very swollen all of a sudden. he cant move or retracted his legs since theyre so big. hes just floatin at the top sideways. what could be wrong and what could we do to help?? please help. these turtles mean alot to him. and i just feel so bad for the lil guy.

Could be retaining water or suffering from a kidney disease. If there is any difficulty swimming, then take him out of the water and at this point, I suggest you find a good herp vet ASAP.

we cant afford a vet right now! :( weve been been puttin him out in the sunlight for about an hr and cleaned out his tank... hes still eating. we gettin a lil hopful coz he is now trying to move around.

I'm having the same problem with my female turtle. She's 11 years old but it's only her front legs. She's starting to move more but I would really like to know how your turtle is? Is he alright now? Did it go away or did you have to go to the vet? Please I really need to know because I'm having the same problem.
