I have a red eared slider, his name is Sparky, has been lively and until the other day doing well, but noticed him bobbing his head when he walked while he was out of his tan while i was cleaning it, then a few days later he became less active , lack of appetite, and seems to have weakeness in his front legs. I have given him a salt bath, tried to get him to eat some romaine lettuce , won't eat his dried shrimp, any ideas??????

I would keep your temperature at a constant 80F and keep an eye on him. Read the site for illnesses, respiratory infection is what you should be watching for with the symptoms you have described. Have you noticed any lopsided swimming or eyes closed or scratching at the eyes or breathing with its mouth open?

No Sparky isn't doing the usual things for respitory infection, I had to deal with that a year ago with my female, but today he is a little more alert but still not up to par. I have given them romaine lettuce, given them new food that has fruit in it, none of them like that, so guess have to break out the big guns and make them some chicken, gee are they spoiled or what??
Thans for suggestions, keep them coming

Do you feed the regular reptile pellets at all? They do have good nutritional value when fed in the right amounts. What's the exact temperatures of the water and basking area?
