Urgent Care :: Turtles nose skin ripped off? PLEASE HELP!

I already took her to the vet the day she kept scratching her nose. There were no specialists and all they gave me was some oral anitbiotics to give twice a day. Now, her nose skin is completely ripped off and there are no air holes. She keeps breathing from her mouth and continues to scratch her nose. I've had this turtle for 5 days now. She looked great the day I got her, clear nose, clear eyes. She has been eating and swimming normally though. I have put her in a quarantine area for now.

It's a Malaysian snail eating turtle btw.

Are you sure the openings are completely closed? I'd try to look for a herp vet asap. As to what's causing it... I have no idea but if she's making it worse then there needs to be some device to prevent her from doing it. The skin should also be pretty firm in that area, so it's possible something there was missed earlier.

Thanks for the reply, just found out right now that her nose is not completely closed. Although it is really messed up. She only breathes from her mouth I presume. Bubbles come out of her nose and I'm trying to give her anti-biotics the vet gave me. She eats normally and swims normally.

Unfortunately, I already went to the vet and all they take care of are cats and dogs. (THailand), I've searched online for some specialists but there are none. Any home remedies? I have betadine but I'm not sure how I would put it on her nose. She is quite small.

Try another board that doesn't specialize is RES's. Or something? Man I wish you luck. Such a cute little turt. Austin's Turtle Page, or Turtle Times. Google them. BTW sorry for recommending an outside site. But I think he needs a broader audience.

Thanks for the kind words. I tried Austin's turtle page but no one helped in 2 days so I decided to go to the vet myself. They closed the topic for me since I thought that I had resolved it. I will try googling it though, hope I can find something.
