First - the pet store people don't know what they're doing. Secondly, your turtle has what's called and ear abscess. You need to take him to a herp vet. The vet will probably clean the area, lance, drain and scoop about any remaining material. Antibiotics may be offered and you'll need to keep the water extra clean.

They are also painful to a turtle. If you ever had an ear infection you know what I mean. Try to get him to the vet ASAP. Please don't use an ich medicine. That doesn't make any sense.

I'm not a vet but that doesn't sound right. How would over feeding cause a bump. Is this vet experience with turtles? Did he do anything to the bump? Is it still there?

Don't listen to that vet! Find another one experienced in dealing with turtles.

If the lump/abcess is "leaking," some of the pus inside is coming out, which might lessen the pressure on surrounding tissues. The abcess, however, needs to be opened up and drained. Find a second vet who knows what s/he is doing.

The procedure sounds OK, it's the explanation (discharge due to overfeeding) is way off. Abcesses in aquatics are often due to husbandry issues like unclean water (not changing the water or cleaning often enough). Make sure his water is clean.

What's the water temp and basking area temp?
