Some of you may know from my last post in urgent care, my RES left eye was swollen due to the wrong fluorescent lighting. After removing the lighting, immediately his eye got 90% better only left with a small amount of white around his eye lids.

Today, as I got home from work, I found my RES left eye to be bleeding!

HELP!

Today his eye has stopped bleeding, the white stuff from his top eyelid has looked like its fallen off but still has a fair bit on his bottom.

Has it gotten any better? It might be an infection or injury, I would make sure the water is very clean and rinse the eyelid. If you choose to see a vet, you can probably get a prescription antibiotic ointment.

The water is clean as I am cleaning it every other day, also I'm using Reptisafe water treatment..
Do you think it will need a trip to the vet, or does it look progressively better?

It seems better, but it's hard to tell from just videos.

Not good at all. It is completely shut now.

Was supposed to take him to the vet but because of the severe snow we've had, it has been closed. Trying to get him to the vet on Monday

Took him to the vets today.

Veterinarian mentioned usually its caused my malnutrition but as I have been feeding him his pellets a per usual, it's more likely an accident with his claw.

His claws were trimmed and an antibiotic injection was given to him which he took very well. He's been asked to return next week for another check after his eye has opened back up.

After returning him to his tank, he's eye has got almost 100% back to normal. He had a scab like wound hanging off his eyelid which seemed to be why he could not open his eye which then eventually fell off. Now looking happy and back to usual self with only a bit of skin shedding to sort out.

Well, the news about the eye is good to hear. Try to lower the water temp to help with the shedding. What's the basking area temp?

The water temperature was previously around 77 degrees. I have now dropped it to around 75 degrees. It did reduce his shedding but not significantly.

He still rubs himself which causes more skin shed.

I havent a thermometer to measure basking temp as yet.

I would check the ammonia level in the tank. A high ammonia level can also contribute to skin shedding. If possible, I'd lower the water temp a few degrees.

UPDATE:
Yesterday went for the 2nd checkup in regards to his eye. Although it had cleared for the first couple of days after his injection it seemed to have developed again.

The vet noted it is infected still and was given eye drops by the name of Exocin aswell as another injection. Was advised to apply the eye drops twice a day for a minimum of 1 week. Has anyone had any experience of these eye drops?

Another checkup is due in a weeks time.
