Urgent Care :: My turt ate two little stones

Hi there

My turtle is 3 1/2 years old, she eats A LOT and is always looking for more food. She has river stones now but she had little ones a few weeks ago.

I saw her this morning and she was eating one of those little stones. She seems fine, basking and everything and eating as well but I don't know what to do.

I'm flying to Europe in 5 hrs and I won't be back until late May. (my sisters are taking care of my turts -got two-)

If she was eating a stone this am and it was a river stone (you there were small ones in the tank a few weeks ago, but now they're gone?), it must be a pretty small river stone...

There's nothing much to be done now, but your sisters should keep an eye on your turtle for any unusual behavior (lethargy, refusal to eat, etc.).

It would be good to take out any stones that are smaller than your turtle's head. Bigger stone can't be eaten and less on the bottom make it easier for your sisters to keep the tank clean. Your RES doesn't need to have the bottom covered with rocks---just a handful in the tank would do (gives her something to push around).
