Help, my gravid female is laying her eggs. BUT SHE'S NOT USING THE SAND PROVIDED. Many of my others have successful laid eggs there but she's only laying them on top of the sand. The other females and males will just eat them up! What should I do!

unless you whant to fertilize them dont worry but if u whant babys they need to be laid out of water ...i would advise to not breed/incubate the eggs

Nothing, let them enjoy there eggs. As long as she is laying them thats all that matters. She obviously didnt like the nesting area you provided. Nothing you can really do.

Oh darn. She's my third female who's having eggs. My female had 6 eggs, only 2 survived. My second female's eggs didn't even hatch. Now this one isn't even laying it in the sand! It's the perfect soft sand for them and there's plenty of it, 1m long, 1m wide and 70cm deep. I've had many years with terrapins and I understand the consequences about breeding and whatsoever. But I have plenty of space to keep them in and I will never release them.

1 more thing, I have no idea which of my females are gravid... I checked all of them under legs etc. but I can't feel anything. How do I find out who's the pregnant one?
