Urgent Care :: RES not eating or basking

Our RES who is about 9-10 months old has not been eating well for the last 4 days. Today he won't take anything. Last couple of days he's only taken a total of 4-5 pellets. He won't bask either. He's active in the water but appears shy it we look at him. He tries to hide under his basking platform. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Water is clean, no odors. Temperature is a steady 78 degrees.

how long have u had your turtle? how big is it? is the tank in a high traffic area?

We've had Jasper since May. He's about 6" and his tank is in a spare bedroom so its quiet. Thats been his home since he came to us. He's in a 20 gallon long tank. Until 4 days ago he was fine.

Are you certain Jasper is a male? Could it be that Jasper is a female and could be ready to lay eggs but does not have a suitable nesting spot?

Another thing that may not be related, but the general rule is 10 gallons per 1" of turtle shell, so by that you ought to be keeping Jasper in a 60 gallon tank right now.
