larry started doing that the other day. he was just to the vet and hes fine, but i heard this weird noise coming from my tank and larry was blowing bubbles under water, then coming up to the surface and popping/eating them. i think he was playing some sort of game with his bubbles. he did it for like 20 minutes. he could have just wanted attention, because in larry world, attention means food...

I've noticed my painteds are more apt to make bubbles when they've gone from a warmer area (like the basking area) to a cooler one (the water).

Well, keep an eye out for any other symptoms and see if these symptoms repeat. Illnesses sometimes have several symptoms, and you should always be aware of any strange behavior.

One of my turts was burping under water for about 3 days. It was so loud you could hear it about 5 feet away from the tank. Ill never be sure what caused it but i think he got an upset stomach/gas from eating half a starhorn plant one night.. He learned his lesson
Can a turtle fart?

it very well could be burping. Rocks was burping quite violently for a while til i figured out that it was the high fibre in the tortoise pellets I was feeding her. Pandora was eating the same stuff and never had a problem.
