Urgent Care :: wont bask!!

my new res wont bask i have had him about 3 weeks, i only seen him on his ramp once, his tail was bitten off so i put neosporin on it and dry dock him in the night time, what can i do to make him bask? he eats reptomin, the water temp is 78-80, i have a uvb 5.0 light and a heat lamp , docking temp is about 85-90

are you sure he is not basking? could he be basking while u r not around?

I had this exact problem which I successfully fixed last week (my RES is also 1.5"). He would not bask at all due to a change in setup so I started putting his pellets on the dock so he would have to go up there to get them. This made him more comfortable with the basking dock and eventually (thank God) he decided to bask.

Is the basking dock accessible, easy to get up on? Because he might have problems with climbing up to bask.

i did that too but i didnt do it for the sake of basking just thought it would be easier for my turtle to get

franklin- than put the food up on the dock so your turtle has to go get it

You probably won't see immediate results (if any) but at least your turtle is going to get accustomed with going up on the basking dock.

my turtle is not even a year old, i guess around 4-6 months or so bc it is 2"
