Slight pinkish hue around the areas on the plastron by the legs. Can this be septicemia? He eats well, swims well, basks well. Lights and pellets are good. Though he sheds a lot even with the water temp of 73 degrees.

Can you post a pic? I was worried about mine a while back. Their plastrons were getting darker around the edges. It was to the point where I couldn't really tell if it was pink or a funny orange colour. Now both my res have orange plastrons. Vet says it's from beta kerotine in their diet.

What are you feeding? How old is he? Is it just a slight change in color or does it look like blood under the shell?

I think it does look more orangish. He eats carrots at times but that was last week that he ate carrots. His attitude is ok. Swims fine and nothing really new. He loves carrots and lettuce with the turtle pellets. I called the vet for an appointment on Friday, I guess I will have to cancel it. Nothing really seems different only the sides of the plastron. It doesn't look like blood. I will post a picture when I get home.
Yoshi is just 1.75" and I don't know how old he is. Got him from Chinatown (Missisauga, ON) Canada (yes he crossed the border). He's been with us for a month now.

If everything else seems ok, I wouldn't worry too much. My turts only get carrots once a week or every 2 weeks and it was still enough to brighten their colours. Check the ingredients in the turtle pellets as well. If there's beta keratine in there, in addition to what he's getting from the pellets then that's probably it.
