I recently moved my two RES to a new bigger tank with new filter and all.

the new tank is placed at a more populated location and whenever the turtle basks on the dock and sees us, he jumps off. i am afraid he might hurt his head jumping off that dock so fast and diving into water and hitting his head onto the side of the glass.

also, they dont eat as much for some reason (both turtles)
they ate all the pellets when i fed them last week, but recently they don't eat them all ( i dont think it is because of a new tank since they ate in the beginning)

anyone have any answers for these two questions? and any solutions?

thanks

I am no expert, but I don't think the turtles can run and jump at such a force that a head injury would occur. Remember, they have hard beaks which have to be pretty strong.

Maybe they aren't eating because they are unfamiliar with their surroundings. Or perhaps they are shy eating in front of people since they were in a less-populated area for a longer period of time. Give them a little more time to adjust and then re-evaluate your turtles' eating habits.

How big is the new tank? If your RES hits his head on the side of the glass/tank when he dives in the water, either the tank is still too small or the position of the basking area needs to be changed. How much water is in the tank?

30 gallons. this is already an upgrade, they never hit the glass of the tank before.

they use to eat the pellets fine even with people watching. the basking area is in the same area.

will they get use to people one day?
