Hey there........I had a desert turtle. I was playing with it in the garden of my house when suddenly I had to go inside the house for abt 5min. In that short time, my tortoise just vanished..........I searched for it in every part of my garden but couldnt find it..........PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

oh no!! how big is this fella? are there any holes and gaps in the garden in which he can escape from? try to keep your garden enclosed to make sure hes still in there- your chances of finding him are much greater. turtles are excellent hiders and they camouflage too well... darn those nicely evolved things!

but seriously, good luck. I would get on my hands and knees and try to press down (gently) on anything that your desert turtle MAY hide in. also, it sometimes help to 'think like a turtle'. when one of my turtle went missing, I tried to imagine myself as a turtle and what places I'd hit up. my first 'turtle guess' was somewhere warm... and surely enough, he was where I expected him to be: in the bathroom under a pile of clothes!

I hope you find him.
I have two female red ear sliders.
Chimpy - 5.5 inches
Chompy- 6.0 inches
Both were born about 7/2007
Got them -- 9/2007

Keep looking. If you can't constantly look, set up a video camera and look for any signs of movement. Have you tried gently digging for it?
