Skiddish but seems healthy. Eyes clear, swims fine, eats and basks regularly. HOWEVER, when shes not basking or hungry, she'll hide in her artificial plant... ALL DAY. She doesn't sleep when she's hiding; shes just... hiding!

I'm worried because I know turtles are supposed to be fairly active. I have another turtle, whose 4", and he swims allllllllllll day and never rests. Is there something wrong with my smaller turtle? She used to share the same tank as the male (and was bullied) until separated 2 months ago. Do you think he traumatized her?

I doubt she's been traumatized. It's more likely that this is her personality. Has your turtle been like this for the last 2 months? If so, it'll just take some time for her real personality to shine through. Consider giving her additional hiding places in the tank, to encourage her to explore between the various hiding places.

my turtle is doing the same thing, so I am taking him to the vet. I am worried, I mean every day all he does his hid . He even got stuck in a fake rock thing I had. So I am going to take him in on monday. If you can find one close to you maybe you should do the same thing .

Hey there! If your turtles have been hiding from the beginning while they eat, bask, and everything else normally, it is probably just their personality; however, if this is a sudden change, this is usually a sign for some illness going on or something new/unusual going on in their environment. So don't rush to the vet if the former is the case.

this turtle has always been this way; it may just be her personality as y'all suggests. after the separation, I have seen her personality bloom; she used to scatter the second I make eye contact with her, now she only freaks out when I make sudden movements. I bought her a couple of new plants to hide in since she likes to do it so much.

Took pathces to the vet ,and they had to keep him over night so I am a little worried.
