my turtle has white spots too. i wonder if its fungus or something worse. at first i thought those where just scratches because this particular res likes to stay on the corners of the aquarium. im afraid this can be contagious. i have 3 more turtles living with this one and i saw a single spot on one of them... help!

That looks like a fungus to me.

Can you describe their tank and lighting conditions?

Usually a change in their living arrangements along with some medicated cream can stop the fungus and prevent future issues.

i used UV light before but i changed it to the ordinary bulb. it's as bright as the UV light but the heat is quite different. my tank is small for four res. i havent noticed these spots before. i can't let them bask under the sunlight either. It's rainy season in our place rut now...

Okay first off they need a UV bulb. An incandescent bulb is okya for heat but it doesn't supply the UV rays they need.

They need to have both warmth and UVB rays, either from the sun when it's nice or a UVB light and heat light. UVB lights don't give out heat, so you need both the ordinary bulb and a UVB light over the basking area.

Could be fungus. It looks like the white areas are the scutes flaking off, not shedding in one piece.

You are correct that fungus is highly contagious to other turtles. A macro picture would be very helpful.
