Urgent Care :: swollen eyes i think

my res the last few days has been having it seens like slightly swollen eyes. but the are not swollen shut or anything. should i get some kind of turtle eye drops or just wait to see if they swell completely

Swollen eyes can mean a lot of things. They could be irritated by too strong UVB, he could have a vitamin A deficiency, or he could be getting ill. Can you tell us about his habitat and his behavior? Answering the questions in the sticky at the top of the forum would also be helpful.

Get the ZOOMED Vitamin A eye drops......IMMEDIATELY....and treat your turtle's eyes now! As a hatchling, my RES had swollen eyes and breathing problems. After a few weeks of treating his eyes with the drops daily, soaking him in sulfate solution, also ZOOMED, and hand feeding him, he got better....this was nearly two years ago! He's growing and healthier than ever now. THE DROPS ARE EFFECTIVE and there's no harm in trying.

Those drops are good but will not help a UV situation. I agree it doesn't hurt to try, but an examination of the habitat could be helpful.

My turtle has swollen eyes also. She's only looking through one eye right now. I also bought the Zoomed Turtle Eye Drops, but the instructions are very vague. It says put one to two drops per eye each day for a week and if it doesn't heal, then take it to a Vet.

Now after I put the drops on her eye, do I just put her back in the water or leave her out for some time?

Leave her out for a few minutes. Are you using any fluorescent UVB lighting?

Yes, I'm using the "Zoo Med ReptiSun Compact Fluorescent." I believe it's the 10.0 UVB.

That is the most problematic one. I'd leave it off for a few days and see what happens.
