hes been swimming with his eyes closed and has a hard time getting them opened, seems irritated... any suggestios??

How long has he been doing this? When he does get them open, do they look swollen at all? Does this happen in the water or after he's been basking for a while and then goes into the water?

If you have chlorinated water, do you use a dechlorinator? How often do you change the water and clean the tank?

Is there AC in the room he's in?

i dechlorinate, in water, not swollen. and yes to AC he seems to be getting better tho..

i got uvb and like a 40 watt heat basking lamp. everything is okay now he is better and i found out his issue. he had a cold if anyones turtles or tortoises dont want to open their eyes it means they have a cold, hes alot better and back to normal now.

If there's AC in the room he's in, be sure he's not in the line of any vents that are shooting out cool air. Besides cooling the air, AC makes the air drier. Both can affect the eyes.
