i recently got a hatchling that was in poor conditions lumped with tons of other hatchlings.

every now and then, i will hear this clicking sound, but not often at all.

well i was just holding, checking it out, and it opened it's mouth and made the clicking sound again.

WHAT IS THIS?

please tell me the little turtle is just mad that i'm holding it and clicking at me!!

it is swimming normaly and acting fine, it hasn't eaten yet though.

currently i am keeping it in 85 degree water, i want to keep it a little warmer. it has good filtered water and a uvb light, it has everything to be healthy. but i can't take it to a vet soon because unfortunetly i am car-less!!.

It's hard to exactly know what causes clicking, croaking or popping noises but they're not know to be symptoms of any illnesses. There may have been someone with a RES who had RI and made a few clicking noises, though it was probably an unrelated situation.

Anyway, you should avoid unnecessary handling of a hatchling and get the water temp to 78-80 F.

I had a RES once that occasionally made clicking noises when he had been out of the tank for a while, and I think it was from dehydration or at least needing to be in the water again. Clicking noises can be part of the repetoire of RI symptoms, but if there are no other symptoms, I wouldn't worry (but keep your eyes open for any).

85F for a water temp is too high. Since you say he was living in poor conditions, I'd set the water temp to 80F and lower it a few degrees if he seems to be doing OK. What's the basking area temp? It should be about 10 degrees higher than the water, and in the range of 88-90F is good.

What are you trying to feed him?

ok the water is down to 80 degrees. and i'm glad to hear (as of now) it doesn't mean anything too serious.

well i tried to feed it reptomin pellets, but she rejected them. so i got my other turtles favorite treat, freeze dried krill..and she won't eat that either.
i've even tried a little piece of chicken, but still no luck.

The eyes are not swollen and your turtle can see? (If a turtle can't see, the turtle won't want to eat.)

Try something smelly--bits of tuna, sardine. Little ones are often attracted to things that move (like pieces of worm).

If you recently got it, it's probably stressed out from the move. I say, let it relax and settle in for a few day and get used to its new surroundings, then try and offer food.
