ok going on 2 years having my res ..thought I knew quite a bit, doing well with her. until i went outside to her outside pond to bring her in for the night and saw an egg!!! Didn't really know what to do so brought it in with her, then she ate it!! Thought ok whatever, today she layed another egg in the water then destroyed that one too. So I have been trying to do a little research here. Question is what should I do with her I can still feel eggs around her hind legs, I had read to put her in a container with dirt so she she can lay them. but how long do I leave her in there without water.. I really don't know what to do..HELP....thanks in advance

If you haven't already read it, here's the link to the reproduction page:

I have two boys myself, so I'm not much else use.

The link Nettle posted has a link to another site re: making a nesting site. I encourage you to read it. Also be aware that most RES do not like the nesting container. A yard or garden would allow your turtle to be more comfortable during this process.

The best time to take her there, IMO is right when she is exhibiting nesting signs (restlessness, lack of appetite, behavioral change, digging motions w/rear legs). Do not leave her unattended and do not interfere if she decides to nest there.
