I don't know what wrong with it, but there is this redness on the neck's of my turtles. I've tried looking up different symptoms to see what is wrong with them, but no luck. How much do vets usually charge for check ups? I've never really taken care of them like pets, which I know is a shame. But I do plan on starting to give them a nice home, and giving it the nutrition from other foods, instead of those turtle pellets.

Can you post a picture or describe it further? It could be any number of things from a bite from another turtle, irritation from rubbing against the shell, or an abscess.

Also, can you describe your set up. A lot of times a better set up really helps to ensure healthier turtles.

Vet prices vary based on the vet and the services you need. Diagnostic tests can be expensive depending on what you need done. Your best bet is to call local herp vets and see what they charge and see how experienced they are. A vet with little exotics experience can be a danger to your turtle because they aren't familiar with treatment options and can offer a potent and incorrect assessment and cure.

Well the turtles are not in a tank, so size might be an issue. Also both turtles have it, maybe I never really noticed it before. I've always used cold tap water in the tub that they were in. I never knew they had to be in heated water. I'm surprised that they have survived this long on eating turtle pellets.

If they're not in a tank, what are they in? And how big is it?

Both turtles have this redness in exactly the same place and only in that place? A picture of the areas would really be good...
