my 1 1/2 inch res is sleeping alot when i wake up hes still sleeping

if i leave him alone for a while he goes to sleep, or just closes his eye(not sure)

if i go somewhere he goes to sleep

the water temp on the thermometer says 80
i have a filter
i just orderd a uvb light, (he hasnt had one for 7 days)
i have a heater

He also doenst swim that much
he doesnt eat when im around, but imma try other food toamorw

Why is he acting like this

It sounds like he may be sick, turtles, no matter how big or small are supposed to be active animals, lethargy isnt a good sign. Are they any other symptoms? I think a trip to the vet would be best.

physicaly he looks fine, no swelling in eyes, no oozing, he does always want to go to the darkest place anywhere, hides in rocks and stuff.

But if he is sleeping a lot, then that is not normal, they are diurnal (active during the day) so he shouldnt be sleeping too much during the day, a nap here and there in the day is fine, but the way you described it, it doesnt sound normal and I think you should take him to a vet.

How often are you changing the water and cleaning the tank?

i just got him 1 week ago,
i cleaned it on wedneday, right now it looks pretty clean.

today when i woke up i saw him
it looked like he was yawning or soemthing
kept opening his mouth wide open and then stuck his head out longer and then snap, he shut his mouth and put his head down, is this normal?

is there something in his throut cuz i did have pebbles before, i had them for like 2 days.

hes not moving alot he stays in the same spot and stares at the same thing

He could have already been sick when you got him. If the water temp is 80F and he's acting like that, find a herp vet for him.

It's good you're getting a UVB light, but don't you already have a light for heat for him? UVB lights don't give off heat, so you need both. He would bask with just a heat light (basking area temp should be 88-90F), but wouldn't be getting the UVB rays he needs.

Not having a UVB bulb for a week wouldn't make him sick. That's more a long term thing. I guarantee that's not what's hurting your turtle right now.

If you've only had him a week - and you're keeping the water clean and at a nice warm 80 degrees - but he's acting like he's got a respiratory infection - then I'm afraid what probably happened is that he was ill when you got him and the symptoms are just now showing up. It's pretty common - people who sell turtles don't keep them clean and warm or feed them right, then when the people that buy them get them him home they come down with something. It's not anything you did.

Until you can get him to a vet, keep his water very clean, keep him warm (like you're doing now), avoid stress (don't pick him up unless you have to), and keep trying to get him to eat. Right now, you can offer him things you'd normally only give a turtle for occasional treats - like a little tuna - just to get him to eat.

Good luck. The best chance he'll have is if you can get him to a vet who will treat him right away and treat him aggressively. We'll be pulling for you. Let us know how it's going.

He doesn't look to me like he feels very good. I think a trip to the vet is in order.

Normally little turtles find being picked up very stressful. Don't pick him up unless you have to so he can conserve his energy.

When he perks up we can talk about his shell and setup some. We could make some helpful suggestions regarding his basking situation.

Just curious - what's that large round whitish object to the left in some of your pictures?
