Good move. The vet should antibiotics for the RI and maybe some creme for his shell. Hopefully he'll make a speedy recovery!

but if its a really bad case of ri is there a point in buying the antibiotics with a 25 chance of no survival?

I guess that's a matter of opinion... but I would say so. I'm not sure where that statistic is from, but you could also look at it as 75% of survival.

taking him to vet at 3 so i will let you know what happen later

ok so just got home from vet and other stuff...so i got the oral atibiotic (against the shots dont think its right to poke my turtle with a needle!) and batadine for his hsell...and got a uvb bulb...am i all set i think hes good...just spend 100$ on him today :/ but its good bcuz hes gonna live hes gonna look younger than 11

Hope he gets better soon! You can try mixing the medicine with food he likes.

Or get a medicine syringe from the drug store, the kind they use to give medicine to babies. Try to get him to bite the tip of it or open his mouth enough for you to put the end of the syringe in.

yeah the vet said mix it with food and i will...and yeah i have a syringe and he bit it yesterday and i got it in his mouth and he didnt like it but he needs it

should my big turtle have a 10.0 comoact strip uvb light or a 10.0 compact coil one becuz im usinf the strip for my babies and i feel they will get more uvb with the coil becuz i can position it better
