Update 20 May 2009
I had a great time visit the vet!

The vet is so kind and friendly.
He retired from being zoo vet about a year ago and he's now an associate
professor at my university before

Haha.. I didn't know dat in my university
have veterinar faculty. So being a lecturer/professor, he didn't treat
my turtle! BUT he TEACH me what a procedures taken and to treats my turtle

Hoho.. so I spend 2 hours 'class' with him! haha.. But its okay. I'm ok
with it though I'm not a medic student but I willing to learn new thing.
To cut the long chit chat story.. hehe.. First, I was ask to prepare the
Potassium Permanganate solutions and soak the turtle about 20 minutes.
In the meantime waiting, the vet ask me to tell about myself and gives
simple background of what kind turtle I have and tell what happen to
the turtles.
I bring along my baby partner (as I have 2 baby YBS) incase to show the
vet if he/she also got infection from the incident as the blood
was spread in the basking spot dat time. Therefore I want to show the
vet that on the baby head has one white spot. Im not sure what it is and
I tot it was warts and I peel it, cuz it looks like a scab dat can peel
off. Then vet said that was abscess!

but the abscess has slow
down and shrink, sign of healing.. huh.. Thank GOd the baby in good condition.
After 20 minutes soaking, the vet check the wound and he glad the wound
not dat worst and clean it. He put some cream to it. He also ask me how
I want to give my turtles medicine, by shot or orally. I choose orally.
I don't want my baby turtle injected as he still small and because
I've experienced before this where my first turtle die 3 days after
vet visit. That was 2 years ago.
So the vet teach me how to feed medicine orally to the baby. He hold
the baby straight up and push the hind legs, as the baby push back the
leg, he mouth tends to open (like hissing) and he drops 2 3 fluid (it is
medicine to boost the turtle immune system and increase the appetite)
So I have new knowledge how to feed turtle with medicine.
Before I leave the clinics, he gaves me few articles to read. It is a
how to take care reptiles and wildlife. He such a great vet! He didn't
charge me anything at all and now Im proud being turtle owner~! I hope
my turtles will be fine and happy the rest of their life~!
