Urgent Care :: Refuses to bask

There isn't a turtle vet nearby,the nearest turtle vet is well over 2 hours away. That's not good for me to take Mikey out of his tank for two hours to be transported to a vet even if he is in a container that has water.

This morning he wasn't bask, yet again he was playing in his filter. But so far I think the basking tank is working as his shell isn't as soft as the day before.
She is mine and I shall call her Michelangelo!

I think you're going through the whole "new mom" worrying about everything phase. But thats just me.

You said your UVB and UVA lights are six inches from the basking area. That's OK for the UVB light (what kind is it), but may be too close for the heat lamp. Check the temp with a thermometer (leave it where the turtle will bask for about 20 min.) to see how warm it is ("warm and dry" doesn't say very much). Try for 88-90F; you still may have to experiment some--some turtles like it cooler, some warmer (but for a small one, I'd be especially careful about the heat). With my set-ups that have two separate lights, the heat light is always further away from the turtle than the UVB light is.

mine won't bask neither,i'm running into the same problem,and the shell on the back is soft,so i'm gonna take your advice and put him in a basking bowl,tnx for the suggestion.
