The vet you went to should have been able to sell you some Nolvasan (it's used for other animals as well)... If you can, try the Hibiclens to see if it helps.

I live in Brazil. I found a Herp Vet in a city near by. I've been trying to get in touch with him.
About the regular vet, I knew that it would be unlikely for him to know anything about turts, but I had to at least make sure. I've been reading around in this forum for some time now so I wouldn't let him do anything that could possibly harm her.

I'm looking it up. Since I don't know the comercial name that they use here in brazil I'm having a hard time, but I'll find it. Has anyone ever used neomycin sulphate? I bought it at the pet shop, it's for fish. Haven't used it yet.

**UPDATE**

Good News everyone. I finally was able to go to the Vet and am relieved to say that HE (yes, I now know for sure) is alright. According to the Vet those white spots are because of improper shedding (lack of vitamins). Since I found the turt, he has been going through a cleaning process. His carpace was so dirty and mudy that I couldn't tell what it's color was. And when it started cleaning up those white spots started showing up too. The red spots and cracked edges where caused by something that he bumped into (I'm thinking that when he drops himself into the water he bumps into the rocks and gets hurt) The Vet said that it's already better and for me to pass POVIDONE-IODINE for 30 days to keep bacteria out. The red spots are caused by some blood vessels that got damaged too. :( The Doctor said that he was in pain and that's probably why he stoped eating. He's back to eating now and the red spots are starting to fade. The Vet game him a Vit A shot and I will be back in 15 days for another. Now on my part I’m going to close off the side of his pool that he dives from and bumps into the rocks to avoid further damage.
I still haven’t chosen a name for him. Thinking of Niko, Zivo, Tess...what do you think?
Well I want to thank everyone that helped and cheered for him. The Vet said he’s quite healthy for all that he’s been through and if depends on me he’ll have a kings life from now on. This is a great site and I hope that when I have more experience I can help too.
If someone has a question or wants more details I'll be glad to give them.

I LUV MY TURTLE!!!

P.S.: He's a YBS, orginally from the south of Brazil.

Of the names you're thinking about, Tess is a female name, Niko could be either, and Zivo sounds male (what does it mean?). If your turtle is a male, you wouldn't want the first one. Nice pic.
