Yes you certainly can do that---you're the one paying for the visit. You are the voice for your turtle and you should question the reason for anything you don't understand or are uncertain about. A good vet shouldn't be offended if you do. (It's also good to ask a few questions you know the basic answers to and see what the vet's response is, just to make sure you're on the same page.)
